New and trending restaurants in Pasadena to know

A warm, sourced guide to the restaurants around Pasadena worth knowing this week: Deda brings Georgian khinkali and molten khachapuri to the South Lake Avenue district, HiHo Cheeseburger keeps its grass-fed Wagyu line moving on Colorado Boulevard, and Tierra Caliente cooks family-style Mexican in Old Pasadena, with addresses, hours, and links for each.

Pasadena's dining scene keeps adding reasons to go out, and right now three tables stand out for very different reasons. Deda, the Georgian restaurant on South Lake Avenue, is the one that food writers keep mentioning for its hand-folded dumplings and cheese-filled bread; HiHo Cheeseburger on East Colorado is the spot for a cheeseburger made entirely from grass-fed, grass-finished Wagyu; and Tierra Caliente in Old Pasadena is the family-run Mexican kitchen serving the time-honored recipes people love to call comfort food. I am Alejandro Espitia, a Broker Associate and REALTOR with Apex Realty and Investments, licensed in California (01213999) since 1996, serving Los Angeles, San Bernardino, San Gabriel, and Riverside, fluent in English and Spanish. I keep a running list of the best new places in the neighborhoods I serve, and every spot below comes from the restaurant's own site or current local coverage, with sources at the bottom of the post.

Deda: Georgian khachapuri and khinkali on South Lake

Deda at 55 S. Lake Avenue, Suite 150 is the first Georgian restaurant most Pasadena diners will have met, and it makes a strong first impression. The kitchen specializes in hand-folded khinkali dumplings, the molten cheese-filled bread boat of Adjaruli khachapuri, flame-grilled mtsvadi skewers, house-baked Dedaspuri bread, and a thoughtful list of Georgian wines. It embraces the Georgian supra, or long-table feast, and serves brunch on weekends. The Deda site has the full menu, hours, and reservations, and the Pasadena Star-News called the food a delight. It is one of those kitchens that gives a neighborhood a whole new reason to linger.

HiHo Cheeseburger: grass-fed Wagyu on East Colorado

HiHo Cheeseburger at 625 E. Colorado Boulevard in the Playhouse Village neighborhood opened its doors in December 2025 and has stayed busy since. The whole pitch is simplicity: cheeseburgers made exclusively with 100 percent grass-fed, grass-finished Wagyu beef from farms the company co-owns, served with clean, recognizable ingredients. It is a cheeseburger you can trust, as the brand puts it, with indoor and outdoor seating. Hours and the full menu are on the HiHo Pasadena page, and the opening was covered by Pasadena Now.

Tierra Caliente: family-style Mexican in Old Pasadena

Tierra Caliente Mexican Cuisine at 115 E. Colorado Boulevard in Old Pasadena is the family-owned, traditional Mexican kitchen whose tagline is Taste the Heart of Mexico. The menu sticks to classic favorites made with fresh ingredients and time-honored recipes, the kind of cooking that feels like someone's home table rather than a formula. It is listed in the Old Pasadena directory, and the Tierra Caliente site carries the menu, hours, and phone number. It is an easy, warm addition to a walk down Colorado Boulevard.

A note on details: menus, hours, and service styles can shift, so please confirm directly with each restaurant before you go, and use the links below for the latest. If you have a favorite Pasadena table I have not covered yet, text me and I will add it to the next edition.
