Heading into early November, the Pasadena tables worth knowing run from a blue-corn taqueria in East Pasadena to a Tokyo-tonkotsu ramen counter on Colorado Boulevard. Madre Maiz Taqueria is topping Yelp's October trend lists, Tosakko Ramen and Yakitori is drawing lines for its first U.S. outpost, Sichuan Street Food keeps the wok loud on Green Street, and Miopane's stuffed bagels have Old Pasadena talking. I am Alejandro Espitia, a Broker Associate and REALTOR with Apex Realty and Investments, licensed in California (01213999) since 1996, serving Los Angeles, San Bernardino, San Gabriel, and Riverside, fluent in English and Spanish. I keep an eye on what is new and what is trending in the neighborhoods I serve so you know where to go, and every pick below comes from current local reporting and directory listings, with sources at the bottom of the post.
Madre Maiz Taqueria: blue corn tacos in East Pasadena
Madre Maiz Taqueria at 259 Sierra Madre Villa Avenue, Unit 101 in East Pasadena is the neighborhood spot showing up on Yelp's trending lists this October. The menu leans authentic and straight-ahead: tacos dorados, specialty tacos served on handmade blue corn tortillas, a birria torta, and carne asada fries, plus breakfast now. Reviewers describe a little room tucked beside a gas station with a small patio, house-made tortillas, and a chef who was brought in from Mexico, and the four-star-plus Yelp rating across more than 500 reviews backs up the word of mouth. The phone is (626) 314-3030, and the full picture is on its Yelp page.
Tosakko Ramen and Yakitori: a Tokyo original lands on Colorado
Tosakko Ramen and Yakitori at 245 E. Colorado Boulevard, near the Pasadena Convention Center and City Hall, is the first U.S. location of a Tokyo ramen and yakitori brand that traces back to a pushcart Minoru Yasuda started in the 1960s on Tokyo's Ring Road No. 7, known as Kan-Nana, before it grew into a famous Ikebukuro shop. The draw here is the rich pork back-fat tonkotsu, a chicken paitan with chashu and egg, and charcoal-grilled yakitori skewers served in a casual izakaya-style room, and it has been pulling steady crowds since its soft opening. The phone is (626) 648-3777. More on the Tosakko site, the Infatuation review, and the Visit Pasadena directory.
Sichuan Street Food: the wok kitchen on Green Street
Sichuan Street Food at 1035 E. Green Street is the cozy, fiercely flavored room from chef Yong “Leo” Zhu, a Chengdu-trained wok cook with two decades in the Chengdu restaurant scene. Eater Los Angeles has called it one of the most exciting new Sichuan restaurants in Los Angeles and one of its best Pasadena picks, and The Infatuation included it among the 20 best restaurants in Pasadena in its September 2026 guide. The menu is chile-forward and unapologetic: a Sichuan-style bullfrog with Sichuan pepper and chiles, pork kidney stir-fry, dan dan mian, and mapo tofu, served from a few tables and a small kitchen that has drawn lines since it opened. The phone is (626) 977-7000. Read the Eater Los Angeles profile, The Infatuation's best-of-Pasadena guide, and the restaurant site.
Miopane: the Taiwanese bagel bakery in Old Pasadena
Miopane at 95 N. Raymond Avenue in Old Pasadena is the Taiwanese bakery and cafe that opened its first U.S. location this year and quickly went viral. The signature is the stuffed, pillowy cream-cheese-filled bagel in bright, photogenic colors, with fillings like matcha paste, black sesame, and chocolate-hazelnut, alongside laminated pastries and croissants with matcha and black sesame. The jalapeño sharp cheddar bagel and the chorizo-pesto croissant are the order regulars talk about most. It is open roughly Tuesday through Sunday, closed Mondays, and the phone is (626) 239-8348. See the Miopane site, the Eater review, and LAist's look at Taiwanese bagels in Pasadena.
Ginjo Ramen: the East Colorado bowl
Further east, Ginjo Ramen at 2391 E. Colorado Boulevard is a newer East Pasadena stop built around a slow-simmered pork bone broth, with a kombu-based vegetarian option alongside it, a pairing worth knowing for anyone who wants both sides of the ramen spectrum at one table. It appears in the Pasadena Now roundup of new food and drink businesses across the city.
What the reservation lists say
If you want the crowd's verdict, OpenTable's Diners' Choice ranking for Pasadena currently highlights Sabrina's Pizzeria Napoletana, Queen Street, Green Street Restaurant, Ruth's Chris Steak House, and Redbird as the most-booked favorites, and Yelp's October New and Hot lists keep surfacing names like Dalah, UOVO, and Madre Maiz. The live versions live on the OpenTable Diners' Choice page for Pasadena and the Yelp New and Hot page for Pasadena.
