Three stories are driving the table talk around Pasadena this week. The biggest is an opening: Lodge Bread Company, the Los Angeles bakery with a devoted following, finally unlocks the doors of its Pasadena outpost on Lincoln Avenue, just below the Altadena border. In Old Pasadena, Bodegon No 69 keeps appearing on Yelp's hot and new lists for its warm, generous Peruvian cooking. And up in Altadena, Miya, the Thai kitchen Eater calls the neighborhood's only one, is the comeback story people are rooting for. I am Alejandro Espitia, a Broker Associate and REALTOR with Apex Realty and Investments, licensed in California (01213999) since 1996, serving Los Angeles, San Bernardino, San Gabriel, and Riverside, fluent in English and Spanish. I keep a running list of the best new places in the neighborhoods I serve, and every spot below comes from the restaurant's own site or current local coverage, with sources at the bottom of the post.
Lodge Bread Company opens on Lincoln Avenue
Lodge Bread Company has opened its Pasadena bakery on Lincoln Avenue near the Altadena border, the brand's fourth location and its first in the San Gabriel Valley. It sits next to Homestate and Kismet on the strip locals now think of as the new East Pasadena dining row, and Eater LA listed it among the fall's most anticipated local openings. The counter runs the full Lodge program: thick-crusted naturally leavened sourdough, the giant cinnamon rolls people drive across town for, breakfast sandwiches, shakshuka, salads, and warm pastries, with bread baked on site through the day. A portion of the space will be shared with Full Proof Pizza Company, which arrives in January, so the block is only going to get busier. Hours and the full menu are on the Lodge Bread site, and the opening was flagged in Eater LA's fall 2026 openings roundup. Go early, because the cinnamon rolls go fast.
Bodegon No 69: Peruvian comfort food in Old Pasadena
Bodegon No 69 at 69 N. Raymond Avenue in Old Pasadena is not new, but it keeps surfacing on Yelp's hot and new restaurant lists for Pasadena, and for good reason. The menu is Peruvian comfort food at its most welcoming: lomo saltado with vinegary onions and crisp fries, aji de gallina, seafood ceviche, and the kind of homey plates that make regulars out of first-timers. With more than four and a half stars across hundreds of Yelp reviews, it is a dependable Old Town table that pairs well with a walk along Colorado. The Bodegon No 69 Yelp page carries menu highlights, hours, and directions.
Miya: Altadena's own Thai kitchen
Miya at 2470 Lake Avenue in Altadena is the restaurant Eater calls "Altadena's only Thai restaurant," and its story is the neighborhood's story. Chef David Tewasart opened it in 2023, the Eaton fire forced it to close, and he rebuilt and reopened in spring 2025 with a menu of refined, deeply personal Thai cooking: rich curries, crisp papaya salad, and the kind of dishes that carry the memory of the community they serve. It is a genuinely moving place to eat, and LAist covered its reopening in detail. If you have not been up Lake Avenue lately, this is the reason.
Also on the hot lists
The current Yelp hot and new restaurants search for Pasadena keeps circling two other names worth knowing. Dos Besos at 99 Union Street in Old Town serves Spanish paella and tapas from a Barcelona-born chef, and Holy Saints at 21 E. Holly Street pairs progressive Californian cooking with a smart cocktail list, dinner Wednesday through Saturday. Both have their details on their Dos Besos and Holy Saints Yelp pages.
A note on details: menus, hours, and service styles can shift, and opening dates can slip, so please confirm directly with each restaurant before you go, and use the links below for the latest.
